Car Wash Service Event

NHS Car wash? We crushed it!

After lot’s of planning and many hours of hard work, the first ever NHS car wash was a huge success! Over 40 cars were washed in the course of 6 hours, all with the help of dedicated NHS members.

Finding group service projects this year has proved especially challenging as we struggled to find organizations to work with or solidify any plans. To combat this, our chapter decided to plan its own service event: fundraising through a car wash then donating the money to an organization of our choice.

During the event, there were a few rain scares, but the clouds ultimately cleared up to create the perfect car washing climate. Even though there were two shifts offered, many students opted to stay for both, and benefited the community while spending time with friends in the process. But who knew washing cars could be such hard work? And who knew planning a car wash could take so much time and energy? A lot goes into gathering the right materials, coordinating volunteers, and making sure everything is set up to work smoothly, but all the work put in was worth it in the end after successfully raising money for charity, and doing some serious wheel washing.

It was so nice to see everyone come together and be able to participate in a group service event after so much work trying to make one happen. This will definitely have to become an annual tradition to spend some time in the sun, and keep the communities cars squeaky clean!
