For our first service event of the spring semester, we worked with an organization called Hope Stone and did manual work at Marshall Middle School. Everybody woke up early on Saturday, February 22, to be at school at 8:15. From school we took buses to Marshall Middle school and upon our arrival we met with the organizers of this event with Hope Stone. We were given tasks- paint two classrooms, lay down flooring in the dance room, and begin organizing costumes. Everybody spilt into two big groups and one smaller group. The smaller group worked with the dance teacher to lay down the flooring while the two bigger groups each took a room to begin painting. Later, a small group helped to move boxes to storage. By the noon, the two classrooms were done being painted and the dance room flooring was laid down, however, we learned that organizing costumes was a huge task and would take too much time so we decided to save that for next time. We all had a lot of fun working together and helping out the middle school! We also got to meet Hope Stone's therapy dog named Beatrice! It was super cool to be able to see everything come together and we can't wait to work with Hope Stone again in the future.
