Social Distancing Service Event: Cards for Elderly/Blood Drive

It's Corona Time! Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus school will now continue virtually and NHS will not be able to host any in-person service events for the rest of the school year. To get everyone to help their community as much as possible, NHS suggested possible service activities that are especially appreciated during this time of crisis. One service activity is making home-made cards for the elderly. During quarantine the elderly are not able to see their loved ones and it becomes very lonely at their nursing home. The Hope Stone organization is collecting hand-made cards for the elderly to hand out and create a positivity wall at the nursing home they work with. These cards are loved by all of the elders and are greatly appreciated. The other individual service activity that NHS suggested is going to donate blood. In any crisis, donated blood is incredibly useful and needed. NHS suggested that anyone who is comfortable and willing to donate blood should do so. We opened up these activities to the entire school as something to do while bored at home to help the community. Even though NHS isn't able to complete this service event together, we are still all connected with each other and getting through these tough times!
